What is ISavePower Compress ShieldTM?

What does ISavePower Compress ShieldTM do?
Increased heat transfer: ISavePower Compress ShieldTM increases efficiency: because it’s a pure lubricant with characteristics of metal that transfers heat. It breaks up stagnant refrigeration oil in the condenser and evaporator restoring the system's ability to transfer heat. It effectively cleans the surface and prevents future oil build up. The combination of ISavePower Compress ShieldTM and the oil is stronger than the oil alone. ISavePower Compress ShieldTM reduces the operational load, thereby reducing abrasion and extending the life of the equipment.
It also reduces excess heat generated and oil foaming, extends drip down time, reduces valve noise, and maintains seal pliability.

Typically, how much is the heat transfer capability of an untreated chiller diminished?
A study published by ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) conclusively shows that system performance is degraded by as much as 30% due to lubricant build-up on internal surfaces throughout the refrigeration system. This build-up is gradual (approximately 2% per year) and causes heat transfer degradation, which increases pressure drops, elevates boiling points and reduces the latent heat capacity of the equipment. The end results of these problems are substantial loss of cooling capacity, loss of lubricity, significantly increased operating costs and shortened equipment life.
When is friction worst in a chiller? How does ISavePower Compress ShieldTM help?
Friction is worst at start-up. Chillers are regularly cycling on and off to satisfy demand. When off for a period of time, the oil drains to the bottom, leaving moving metal parts without a protective lubrication barrier when the ‘on’ cycle resumes. It can be used to treat rotary and screw-type compressors, hermetically and semi-hermetically sealed positive displacement (reciprocating) compressors, scroll compressors, and centrifugal chillers. It works in any system where operating temperatures range between – 65o F To 400o F. ISavePower Compress ShieldTM can be applied to all sized air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Yes. A typical unit/compressor loses 2%-4% efficiency per year. As far as we know, ISavePower Compress ShieldTM is compatible with all refrigerants. Is ISavePower Compress ShieldTM compatible with all refrigeration oils?
ISavePower Compress ShieldTM has been tested and used with all major refrigeration oils – mineral oil, alkylbenzine, and POE. Before installing in a system with an oil other than those, the system should be reviewed by an ISavePower Compress ShieldTM engineer.
After I install ISavePower Compress ShieldTM is there anything I need to do?
Yes, depending on the equipment, we recommend that oil levels and pressures be monitored for a period after the installation. Units that experience extreme oil migration may have a large amount of oil returning to the compressor. We also advise that the technician check the filter dryer on the next scheduled PM. Occasionally, trash in the system will migrate to the filter and the filter will require a change. These same circumstances may also lead to the saturation of filter driers also.
Will I need to re-install ISavePower Compress ShieldTM every year?
No, ISavePower Compress ShieldTM is permanently in the system. If your system experiences a refrigerant leak, the loss of ISavePower Compress ShieldTM would be minor. If the oil is lost or requires replacement, then only a small amount of ISavePower Compress ShieldTM would be required. Please consult our technical department for the proper amount.
